*As long as you make this donation yearly, you will receive information on all of the band recoveries of the kestrels that had nested in your nest box.

Your donations will enable us to do the following:

1) Pay for material to build more nest boxes.

a) This includes 3/4 inch plywood, exterior paint, paint brushes and bedding material to place inside each box.

2) To continue to construct and place more nest boxes throughout Northern Colorado, and later more of the state.

3) Travel expenses, to and from each site, to check each nest for occupancy, band the young and clean out each box at the end of each nesting season.

4) Pay for the cameras that we have on the active nest boxes.

5) travel to find more locations to expand the project

American Kestrel numbers have been declining due to a number of issues, including disease, predation, loss of habitat and loss of nesting sites.

At the Colorado Avian Research and Rehabilitation Institute, we have been building and placing nest boxes for these tiny predators for more than 30 years, with great success.

The nest boxes are made of 3/4 inch plywood and painted with exterior paint to protect them from the elements.
